Should You Choose an Individual Realtor or a Real Estate Team?

Over the years, I've had many buyers and sellers ask me about the difference between working with an individual agent versus a large real estate team. The truth is, there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. Both approaches can work well, and the right fit often comes down to what type of experience you're looking for.
How Large Real Estate Teams Work
Many successful teams divide responsibilities among several people. Depending on the team, you may interact with:
Buyer agents
Listing coordinators
Showing assistants
Marketing specialists
Transaction coordinators
These systems can be very efficient and work well for many clients. However, some people are surprised to find that the person they first meet with isn't always the person they work with throughout the process.
My Approach Is a Little Different
I've chosen to structure my business differently because I enjoy building relationships and being personally involved with my clients every step of the way.
When you work with me, you'll be working directly with me from start to finish. While I do have the support of a transaction coordinator who helps behind the scenes with brokerage paperwork, all property tours, showings, marketing, negotiations, and communication are handled personally by me.
That means you'll always know who to call, text, or email when questions come up.
Consistent Communication Matters
Buying or selling a home can feel overwhelming at times, and I've always believed that communication is one of the most important parts of my job.
My clients know that they'll hear from me regularly and that I'll keep them informed, whether the news is exciting or challenging. I don't believe in disappearing once a contract is signed. In fact, many clients tell me that by the end of the transaction they feel like something is missing because we're no longer talking as frequently.
To me, that's one of the greatest compliments I can receive.
The Relationship Doesn't End at Closing
One of my favorite parts of this business is that many clients eventually become friends.
Just because a transaction closes doesn't mean our relationship ends. Years later, many past clients still call me for advice, contractor recommendations, design ideas, or simply to ask a real estate question. Some have even moved out of state and continue to reach out because they trust my opinion.
I've always viewed my role as being a long-term resource, not just someone who helps with a single transaction.
Experience Beyond Real Estate
Before becoming a Realtor, I spent 18 years in corporate America as a project manager and also owned a home staging and interior redesign business.
Those experiences taught me how to communicate effectively, solve problems, stay organized, and help clients make confident decisions. They also allow me to bring a perspective that goes beyond simply opening doors and writing contracts.
Which Approach Is Better?
Honestly, both can be great options.
Large teams are often a good fit for people who appreciate highly structured systems and don't necessarily mind working with multiple individuals throughout the process.
Many of my clients, however, tell me they prefer having one trusted advisor who knows their goals, understands their concerns, and is personally invested in helping them achieve the best outcome.
At the end of the day, real estate is a relationship business. And for me, that's always been the most rewarding part of what I do.
